Petula Clark
(Sailor stop your roaming)
Sailor, stop your roaming
Sailor, leave the sea
Sailor, when the tide turns
Come home, safe to me
As you sail across the sea
All my love is there beside you
In Capri or Amsterdam, Honolulu or Siam
To the harbour of my heart
I will sent my love to guide you
As I call across the sea
Come home to me
Sailor, stop your roaming
Sailor, leave the sea
Sailor, when the tide turns
Come home, safe to me
As you sail across the sea
All my love is there beside you
In Capri or Amsterdam, Honolulu or Siam
To the harbour of my heart
I will sent my love to guide you
As I call across the sea
Come home to me
(Sailor sailor)

For anyone who needs lyrics knowledge... just put the lyrics in the google search bos then put lyrics at the end of it and your song is likely to pop up:) My friend taught me that:p

That's the best way to go! Even if you know two words of the song just type in "the words lyrics". What would we do without Google? :p

Also sung by 'Les Compagnons de la Chanson' a prolific 1950's Parisian gay men's chorus. This song was listed as 'Marin' (Sailor) on their LP 'Frenchy' (Capitol ST 10311)and attributed to Scharfenberger/J. Brousolle. Lyrics were different somewhat but the tune is unmistakably the same.

I KNEW I had heard it... in Germany in the winter of 1962/3 at the Hotel Bayerischerhof where I worked and personally met (and got his autograph) the singer Freddy Quinn who was staying in the hotel. The song is called 'Seemann' and can be heard on Youtube at this address Freddy - Seemann deine Heimat ist das Meer - YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B-SVP6i9tbk). Am I good or WHAT??
