OMG this is my favorite movie of all time! You're thinking of the TV Mini series The Tenth Kingdom (http://imdb.com/title/tt0207275/) (2000) This amazing 7 hour film is about Virginia Lewis (Kimberly Williams, Father of the Bride) who's mother (Dianne Wiest, The Bird Cage, Practical Magic, Law and Order) developed a mental illness and after trying to murder her daughter ran away from home and was found by Snow Whites evil stepmother and taken to the 9 kingdoms. In an evil plan to take over the 9 kingdoms The evil queen (Virginia's mother) turns Snow Whites grandson, Prince Wendel, into a dog afterwhich he runs away to find help and stumbles upon a magic mirror that takes him to the 10th Kingdom (our world) he is chased by the moronic trolls who always seem to blunder up everything they try to do. Prince Wendel finds Virginia and her father (John Laroquette) (who is the only one who can hear the dog since he eats a magic bean which grants him wishes) and together they meet up with Wolf (Scott Cohen, Gilmore Girls) who falls in love with Virginia as they save the 9 kingdoms.
This movie also stars; Rutger Hauer, Camryn Manheim, Ed O'Neill, Warwick Davis, and Ann-Margret. I've seen this movie well over 20 times (and at 7 hours that's a lot of time I've spent watching that movie) It's definitely worth watching again.

I just found & bought this at the mall like late last year and made my dad watch the whole thing with me! He really liked it, but thought it was too long! I love this movie so much! I remember that this came out while I was still in school, and I made sure to do my homework on time so I'd have the time to just relax and watch it when it came on TV! Kind of my reward for a job well done! :) Definitely a must see, and a "re-see" for me since it's been awhile! I'll have to pull it out of my movie bin and watch it!
