Can shutoff valves be installed to a tub & shower supply valve lines?
Will I be disappointed in water flow volume using 1/4 turn non-full-port ball valves?
What would be recommended?

The valve in question is a BrassCraft KTR14C1 1/2" Nom Sweat Inlet 3/8" Comp Outlet.
The open ball valve is 1/4" diameter, so half the supply ID.

The wall area has an access cover, so it's not hard to get into.

Do you mean 1/4 turn FULL port ball valves?

As far as I know, all 1/4 ball valves are "full port" meaning that there is no restriction in pipe diameter when they're open...

It sounds like a fine idea to me, but remember that the valves won't be much use if you can't get to them... there's no sense in having a valve inside the wall.

Also, I learned recently here that you should NEVER use a compression fitting inside a wall, though most ball valves are solder (brass) or solvent-weld (PVC), and sometimes threaded..

Ps: I'm NOT a plumber, but I can assure you that a 1/4 turn ball valve won't reduce the flow to your shower...
