We removed a maget from a barn cats face. What sort of treatment should we give the cat now that it is removed and there is a large hole in the side of the cats face?

The cat's open sore is now fair game for more maggots to settle there, and if her home is a barn, flies will quickly find her and lay their eggs in the flesh. The eggs will hatch as maggots -- possibly how she ended up with a maggot, from an open sore that attracted flies.
Can you get her to a vet? If not, call your vet and explain what happened. He may have an idea on how to get the wound closed. Or if the vet visits the farm, he could close up the wound with a few stitches.
Good luck! My friend's dog ended up with maggots stuck to his side (embedded in his skin) after sleeping on feces-covered hay. The dog had to be euthanized.

Cat Wounds (http://www.doctordog.com/catbook/catwound.html) treating the cat yourself is probably not going to be as effective as the vets treatment. If noting else try to keep him in and away from flies .

Neosporin is good to put on the wound, but make sure you clean it daily to keep new fly eggs off.You don't want it to heal with eggs trapped in the wound.Betadine solution is great for steralizing the area.Use gauze, and wipe the area with a new one each time,to keep bacteria from the area.:)
