About a month and a half ago me and my wife were living in an apartment. The next door neighbor, an ex felon, "accidentaly discharged" a gun. Well it went through the living room wall and my wife was hit with about 30 shotgun pellets. She went through numerous surgeries and lost vision in one eye. I was wondering what the apartment's liability would be, if there even is any. I read over the lease and it said that they weren't responsible for criminal background checks. Also, if we can bring a civil suit against the neighbor. Any help is welcomed.

See an atty, he will probably look at suing both the neighbor and the apt owners. Might not win, buit might. Changes are better that the apt owners have insurance, money, Neighbor might have renter's insurance or something to attach with a judgement.
