Our Central Air unit just stopped blowing and cooling all of a sudden today. We have reset the breakers both inside and outside by the unit and still nothing. The fan in the unit will turn like normal but nothing inside the house. We turned it off with just the fan running for a few hours in case it was frozen up but still nothing when we turn it back on. HELP! It's 90 degrees in my house :(

Most compressor units have a double capacator . If one half goes bad, either the compressor will run without the fan, or vice versa. For a similar problem, see https://www.askmehelpdesk.com/showthread.php?t=11023

Does the inside the house unit come on if you set the selector to fan on as opposed to auto?
Does the fan on the outside unit come on if you set the thermostat to cool?
What type of unit is it? Trane, G E, Goodman, etc?
If the inside comes on, try looking into the evap unit area. Is there a pan under the unit? If so is it full of water?
You mentioned that it might be low on freon? Has this occurred before?

If the outside unit starts when you set the thermostat to cool is the air coming from the outside fan cool or hot? It should start being hot in a few minutes, if not may need recharge.
If fan does not run outside and you hear a hum, shut power off and try to move the fan blade carefully. If it trurns freely could be a capacitor.

Thanks for the advice but it just got too dang hot in here! It's 99 here right now! So we called the experts! It turns out that the board blew. So good thing parts are still under warranty so he fixed it for now so we have cold air but is ordering a new board for us and should have it Monday he hopes. Not sure what he did really but he said we couldn't use the heat until he gets the board but hmm don't think that will be a problem anytime soon!

Thanks a bunch!
