A few months ago, my Whirlpool AWM 6100 began making noise when spinning. This has got progressively worse and is now like an aircraft taking off. It's so noisy I can't stay in the room with it. The drum appears to have something resisting movement. When not in use I can rotate it with my hand but it makes a horrible squeaking noise.

The clutch or brake linings are probably badly worn. You will need to inspect.
