I recently moved into a new house with a ceiling fan and light kit. The light doesn't work. I removed the light and found it had a black and white wire connected to a blue and white wire in the fan housing (black to blue, white to white). The switch was damaged, so I replaced the switch. Still didn't work. Fan and light seem to be on the same wall switch. There is power from the blue wire in the fan housing. When I removed the light kit and plugged it in directly to a wall outlet, it worked. So the light works, the switch works, the blue and white feed wires in the fan have power, but when I connect it all together, it doesn't work. What else could it be?

Thanks, Barry

Sounds like you're not connecting it together properly. If there is 120vAC between the blue and white wires, then the fan is set up for a light. Is that how you're connecting the light?

I would temporarily bypass newly installed switch, connect light kit black, to fan blue, with no switch between. Defective parts more common now, cheaper to send replacement, than to test, for manufacturers.
