Recently a creditor optaind a judgement against me and my husband, and now they are garnishing his wages. Should we have been notified they were going to garnish his before. Now I can't afford to pay our regular bills, normal living expences. Is there anything I can do now?

You would have been notified for the court hearing for the judgement, and you would have had the opportunity to defend yourself and prove you did not owe the debt.
But once they have a judgement, they do not have to notify you that they are going to garnish your wages ( in most states ) In Tennessee they do have to notify but that is a state law.
They may also attach your bank accounts in many states, and with no notice either after they have a judgement.
