Is there any California law or code#, in regards to a person signing a traffic ticket, that prohibits them from adding any additional notation or 3 initials in along with their signature?

I understand a person signs as a promise to appear in court, no dispute over that.

I was being very badly treated by an officer, even when I was trying to be docile, submissive & coopertive, & the officer was increasingly angered when I signed my name & then wrote "signed under duress". He scribbled it out saying only my signature. I then signed again & put SDU, & he said I was breaking the law & he could arrest me if I put it again. I let him know that I understood why I was to sign, & I didn't have any problem with that, but his increasing volatile nature was causing exactly what I was noting afterwards, & I was including it for my protection in signing.

I had no problem in signing my name as it appeared on my driver's license, but I feel HE didn't want that added on as a negative reflection on him, so he kept "strong arming me", by telling me it was against the law, & he would arrest me.

Please help. IS it an actual law or code that I may reference? Thank you.

THere is no law requiring you to sign a traffic summon in a certain way, anyone can sign the summon as they see fit.

By the way, traffic summon is not an arrest, unless DUI is involved. It is not a criminal act.

I personally would have them arrest me .

I would have told him to arrest me and explain why to his sergeant.
