If go to my local Lowe's store and buy a one piece shower, do I fasten that directly to the stud wall? Put up a mositure barrier? The bathrrom is going to be finished with rough cedar boards on the wall.. not sure how to do that around the shower? Help!

I don't rough cedar boards a good idea unless you treat them somehow for the moisture they will encounter on a day to day basis.

IMO, don't know about the fastening, but I think it's a good point. I know it will look really nice but not practical.

I mentioned that, downrange, because I made that mistake a few years ago and had no one to tell me it wasn't a good idea. I found out the hard way. Any questions I asked from a female viewpoint were laughed at as inconsiquential but I was doing all the work myself. I still hate the 'hardware store male' attitude even now at 65 when I know what I am talking about!

I would be interested to know, just for my own information, what you are sealing them with. I love the look and smell of cedar inside the house but ever since that mistake years ago I have not used them anywhere indoors.

I talked with a guy from my area... he told me to use the same stuff as I used on cedar boards on the outside of my house.. It's a Flood brand CWF sealer. He thought it would be OK to use as a sealer for in the bath room..

If it were me... I would install "green board" sheetrock (moisture resistant - called "green" 'cause it's a green color) over the studs behind the new shower. You'll need a flat surface to (glue) the shower walls to.

I wondered if I should put that stuff up! Thanks for your input. Solved that problem!
