Just got a new computer with WinXP. Networked all of the home computers. Have had Outlook 2000 (as part of the Office package) on one computer for almost 5 years. Have used both old and new computer because new computer doesn't have all of the software as old computer. Haven't had any problems until this morning. After turning on all of the computers and then trying to open Outlook on the older computer, I received the following message:

This feature requires IE 4.01 or greater. You can install IE5 for the IE folder on the MS Office 2000 CD or download it from the IE site on the MS web.

(I clicked OK because that was my only choice and the following message popped up... by the way, I have IE 6.0 on this computer.)

Cannot start MS Outlook.

The only thing I did last night was turn off all of the computers and then I turned them all on this morning. I have no idea why I got this message and now I am unable to open the program at all.

(1) What can I do to fix the problem and gain access into the program?
(2) If I put Office 2000 on the new computer, should I be able to just copy my .pst and .pab (if I can find the darn thing) onto the new computer and import into Outlook?
(3) Anything else you can offer in the way of help..?

Yes you should be able to copy your PST and PAB. Did you try to reboot and see if that solved the problem? Or just restart Outlook?

Doing a Windows Update should take care of getting IE up-to-date.
