I am moving into a larger home, and my living room furniture (a leather sofa and leather chair) make the new space seem very empty. I was wandering what other pieces of furniture (e.g. chairs) that I should buy, and what type of material and pattern would go best with a deep brown (almost a little maroon) leather. Thanks for your help.

Stick with a coarser fabric, casual style. I don't know what your furniture looks like but stay away from jacquard, chinze. But stick to cotton and chenille. Matte thick cotton canvas or chenille fabric in a contrasting color might be nice or a geometric maroon/gold/olive pattern would coordinate well. Stay away from flowers with leather. Blues also are not likely to work. Deep red tones coordinate well with deep brown leather, as do creams, if you can keep it clean.

Why do blue's not work well with brown leather? In my living room I have 3 cream walls, and one deep-duck-egg-blue wall. As for furnishings, I have a reasonably dark brown leather sofa, and a wide striped chair. I have picked out the colour of the stripes in cushions on the leather sofa. I think it works well.

I had leather sofa and chairs and papasan chairs they looked good together but you probably have to like the style.

Also striped fur looks good with leather as well as wooden picture frames

Here are some pictures for some ideas for the style
