Good Morning
I want to move my washer and dryer from the basement to the upstairs kitchen. Can we just buy a longer hoses for the connection and discharge hoses and run them down to the basement?
Do you forsee any other problems they will be directly above the outtake pipe and faucet connections. I know the dryer has to have the 220 plug installed also.
Thanks I am glad I found this site.

If you go straight down with the drain hose, water may run out as fast as it runs in. Try laying the drain hose on the floor, and starting a wash cycle. If the water runs out, you can fix that simply by running the hose up just as it is now, before turning down. Other than that, I don't see any problems. Some washers can't pump water up too far, but down shouldn't be a problem. If you hit any snags, we will work them out.

Hi Diane,

Labman gave you a very good idea of what you'll run into. Let me take it a step further. In order to operaten and drain properly the hose must be elevated up over the flood rim of the washer. This is called a drip loop and may be formed by simply looping the hose up so the bend is even with the top of the washer and then you may lengthen the hose and discharge to the basement. A drip loop will prevent the water from draining out of the tub while you're washing. Your pump should be able to handle this just dandy. In addition to the 220 volt outlet for the dryer you will also need to exhaust it to the outside. Good luck, Tom
