We have a Kenmore Elite dryer, 4-5 years old, when we load it, then push 'start' the dryer starts and stays 'on' only as long as the 'start' button is depressed. When this button is depressed the element comes on and the drum turns as normal, the problem is that I can't stand there all day to hold the button.
Releasing the button stops the operation.

Possible that the start button is bad. I would start troubleshooting there.
