For the past 3 weeks there has been an oily/gasoline-ish smell in the house. This smell is at intermittent times. I have walked around and smelled EVRYTHING and cannot locate the source of the smell. I have cleaned and scrubbed all possible offenders: fridge, oven, garbage disposal, garbage cans, recycling bin, floors, walls, etc.

It is July and HOT where I live which means the AC had been running constantly. There is no furnace at all, only a heat pump. I though maybe the ceiling fan motor was the culprit so I turned it off for a few days, still smell it.

Still smell it when trash can and recycling bins are outside.

I cannot find any leaks, inside or out. No wet wood anywhere. No dead animals.

I am not sure if it is plumbing, electrical, environmental. I am at a complete loss of who to even call.

Do you think the smell is coming through the a/c vents ? Check it,

Have you looked in your attic yet ?

I would HIGHLY advise you to contact someone immediately. I would start by calling someone who can help with your vents, and if they can't help then a plumber and if they can'thelp then keep going down the list because that is very dangerous to your health.
