I'm about to get married and like most women I want to keep my last name but I also want to have his :D I've asked family and friends and they just confused the heck out of me some say his - mine others say mine-his... my questions is which last name is first?

I would go for whichever sounds better. Normally one way around sounds horrible.

The wikipedia article may be of interest to you:

Double-barrelled name - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Double-barrelled_name)

It doesn't mention the order though. I'm not convinced that there is a defined way to do it. Do you have a source, NowWhat?

No, I don't have a source. I think it is just tradition.
The way I always thought about it was this - your last name came first and then you were given the new name. So it would make sense to use your original last name first with the new name second.
Does that make any sense at all?
