Hi,

I've been having trouble with my 1999 Honda Accord not starting for a while now. After it happened the first time, I brought it to a mechanic and they could not duplicate the problem so they sent me home saying that it was fine. Since then it's happened several times. It cranks like it's going to start but never turns over. The battery is new so I know that it's not that. At first it only happened when it was raining or if I let it sit without starting it for a day or two. Today, however, it did not start, it wasn't raining and I drove it last night. Please help!

Thank you!

Reading sections A and B should help you identify the problem:

https://www.askmehelpdesk.com/cars-trucks/faq-how-troubleshoot-repair-maintain-hondas-46563.html

Be sure and answer the 3 basic diagnostic questions, check under-dash and under-hood fuses with a test light or multimeter (see Sticky), and check for spark.

Besides replacing normal maintenance items, such as spark plugs (NGK only), rotor, distributor cap, and fuel filter, consider replacing the Ignition Control Module (igniter) and coil inside the distributor. If these steps don't solve the problem, the CYL, CKP, and TDC sensors inside the distributor may be bad. This, also, is common on older Hondas and requires the distributor housing be replaced--only install a Honda distributor, not an aftermarket product.
