I live in mass, my landlord raised my rent after I complained to board of health about buidling code violations. He raised it 600 dollars and I already paid 1300 and he never updated the property in the 35 years I have known him

I with held my rent, contacted a lawyer to do answer and discovery, I am disabled basically the judge laughed him out of court with the many harassment things he tried on me, but NOW when and how does he have to give me back my security deposit? I am sure he will say all the bldg violations were due to me but the board of health has stated other wise

Anyone have any suggestions for me? Thank you very much in advance and I hope this was clear

Have you moved? You get your security back AFTER you move. Make sure you do a walk through before turning over the keys so that eveything is documented.

Oh yes --we did a walk through but the issues that remain were already in place and documented by the board of health

Then you should be fine. If the deposit has not been returned within the time frame requried by law, you will have to sue him for it.

The check the legal requirements you can use the links in the note at the top of this forum.
