I have heard of this before. I often put out street lights when I get close to them. I have one in front of my driveway and I put this one out all the time, when I go out on my front porch. There are several I put out when I drive past them. I have researched this and found that several people can do this. They don't always go out, but they do enough that I have noticed this. While researching, I have found biofield or my aura is what causes it. Does anyone know anything else about this that could tell me more ?

Well, I'm not sure about the aura thing, it could be possible I guess.

I know some places have their street lights on a timer where they dim and brighten through out the night to conserve energy.
Some streetlights also dim when the headlights of a car hit the light sensor.

I have heard of auras. I actually was watching an episode of Miami Ink last week and their was a lady on there getting a tattoo that represented her ability to see auras. She was struck by lighting a few years back and since then she has been able to see these around people. She stated that people have different auras and the different colors mean different things. I personally think it's possible that you have this ability because it obviously has something to do with an energy field that could possibly affect electricity... its quite interesting.

I am a believer in auras, although I haven't done a lot of research on them. Just for the record and interest here, my mother who has long since passed, could never wear a standard wind-up watch without it stopping. She would wind them up of course, but something about her made them stop. I have no reason to disbelieve what she said concerning that. She was a good Christian as well as being an extremely upstanding and responsible person.

Just another thing for the record. When responding to a poster's answer's on this site, unless they are totally wrong in an answer based upon fact, and not just giving their opinion, and also do not validate why they think a certain way, it is best to respond to them by posting a response to them as an answer to the question rather than rating them.

Thank you... I am new to this site. Sorry... again thanks so much

I have a female friend who claims to experience this phenomeon. I'd say, from a scientific standpoint, that it has less to do with "auras" and maybe more to do with your bodies energy output, kind of like a magnet where it attracts and repells certain electrical charges. You're charge could be affecting these lights in such a fashion.

There have even been reports of women who would manifest energy and lightening from their hands kind of like static electricity.

What causes this to happen with ones body ?

Some say it's an inner spiritual thing... I personally think that's super neat:)

It is different and not something you can just tell anyone. Some would think I was crazy.

That IS true:p
But I think you're perfectly sane:)

What could be a possible cause of this is largely emotional and hormonal release. A lot of paranormal and poltergiest activity has been attributed to hormonal teenagers. This remains true for older women as the hormones and emotion are constantly in flux with the onset of periods and menopause.

This phenomenon is perfectly normal and I'm sure far from being the first person to experience this. Quick question, are you shocked a lot when touching say metal objects, door knobs and such?

You must realize that the body's brain, nerves, and muscles are all put into motion through electrical impluses and kenetic energy, so if you were to say produce more energy than normal, than you would undoubtably effect the environment around you, which seems to be your case in point.

To answer your qustion, yes I do. I even sometimes shock people when I touch them

This phenomenon has not been studied properly and has not been experimentally verified.

There is an article on the phenomenon in wikipedia here:
Street light interference - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Street_light_interference)

I'm very interested in it.
It might be worth your while to contact a physics professor at a local university. They may be able to point you to someone who would be well trained and interested in helping you to investigate the phenomenon. At the very least, someone would be able to document proper scientific experiments carried out with you to put some scientific study in the area out there; something which is lacking at the moment.

Please, if you do decide to do something along these lines, make sure to let us know if a paper is published :). Some experimental verification of the phenomenon would be very useful.

Perfect, this further verifies my conclusion. I imagine this phenomeon increases with emotional and physical stress. You happened to be an excellent conductor of your own energy or as other here have labed it "auroa". Just know that this is perfectly natural. You probably also are "sensitive" to the paranormal as well, I am I wrong?

Very interesting. Unfortunately most paranormal activity and occurrences are not studied properly due to the scientific and academic disregard for such things as "nonsense." Its really a shame as we could learn more about our world, universe, and even ourselves from an in-depth study of these phenomenon.

I considered writing a case study on the application and effectiveness of EVP work.

I promise you, as soon as you show a physicist that the light turns off and on as you step under it, he will be hooked. Investigation is our lifeblood.

I agree, unfortunately most scientist are the see it to believe it crowd :)

Yes, we have to observe it to question why it is, we only deal in the observed. I'm sure you can find one physicist who is willing to meet you somewhere one evening to see it in action. Less of us are scared of the unexplained than you think, we certainly aren't all skeptics.

Oh of course, I don't mean the entire scientific community is as such. I'm mean even Edision patented an invention to "Speak with the Dead" its through scientist like this that leaps and bounds are made in Unusual fields. By the by what field of study are you in? I'm assuming something to do with physics...

Impressive, unfortunately I've no sense for numbers, elements, and the like =P Hats off to you. I'm getting my Masters' in Literature right now and eventually my Ph.D I imagine its not as difficult as the field you've chosen.

When I am by a radio that it gets statiic, when I move it clears up.
Is this along the same lines.

when I am by a radio that it gets statiic, when I move it clears up.
Is this along the same lines.

I'm not sure of all the physics behind it, but I would think that affecting radio signals with your body is due more to where your body is in relation to the radio signals coming into the antenna and whether-or-not the antenna is in the most optimal place and position in order to receive radio signals. Affecting the radio signal for me according to where I might be standing or walking has happened with any radio in my home that I have used.

So, as far as being along the same lines as the person that thinks that they can turn street lights on and off by their mere presence to the light since there is no signal which must pass through them in order for the light to be turned on or off.

What babigirl1 is talking about is something unseen emanating from her body to cause the phenomena that she is describing rather than something coming into her body.

Hi babigirl1
I cannot believe i share the exact story. i've noticed the street lights dimming on me everywhere even on the expressway it's not everyday but it's every week practically. Last night it happened again at about 3 am. So i was on google today to search this out and this site came up so i'm letting you know i understand. My family don't believe me. But i know i'm not crazy. It's going on three years as well. And i'll be driving any car, my own, my bros, my dads, and my moms so i don't get it!

Just wanted to update this. My house burnt down on Nov. 29 and I bought a new house. I have the same kind of street light in front of my house, well it is attached to my house. When I go outside, it goes out as well. There is also one in the back drive that goes out as well. My son is 17 yrs old and he can put them out as well. Anyone else walks near them and they stay on. But like I said If we walk anywhere near them they go out. Now that the lights are so close to us when we walk near them everyone is noticing that we are doing this. My son thinks it is so cool. It freaks my husband out. Lol
