I am going to be installing tile over durock cement board which sits on the top edge of my shower pan and just slightly over hangs into shower pan. Should I rest the starter row of tiles down on the cultured marble shower pan which has a 1/2 in lip or should I leave maybe 1/8 gap and if so what do you think I should use to fill in that gap where tile meets shower pan.

I'm not a tile man. They come in after we plumb in the shower. However let me give you a site that instructs you on building a tile shower stall. Click on , http://www.compotite.com/blue_inst_eng.htm
Good luck. Tom

No matter what you do you need to waterproof the durrock. It's a good backer but it isn't waterproof. Check out the Schluter Systems Kerdi material as I found it was a lot easier to use than traditional thick pan liner materials.

Trick stuff for sure. No more thick mortar beds. Was real easy to use this stuff. Almost like hanging wall paper!
