Can someone help me troubleshoot my a/c at home.I replaced the air filter and washed down the outdoor condesor with a hose and still no a/c.I also shut my a/c down for the night thinking that maybe after all the cleaning and also if there might have been any freezing of the pipes that it would have given it time to thaw out.Also is there any way to bypass the thermostat to see that it may be a stat issue? Or can I have a freon leak?
As far as I know evrything is working fine... the condenser is working and the fan is on in the house but no cooling... Anyway I have a Carrier system which is a split.. condensor outside and the coil being inside... it's a 2 ton

If everything is working you know that the stat is OK. Is the problem that it is just not coolin? You stated that everything is working. Go to outside unit and feel the air coming out of it. Is it warmer than the ambient? Feel the copper lines on the outside of the unit. Is the small line hot? Is the larger line cool and sweaty? The fan outside is working but do you heare the compressor running as well? Post back

The air is coming out at the condenser is warmer and I checked the suction line and it felt warm and not cold and sweaty also the small line was warm too.. but I didn't see if the compressor was coming on... if that's the case can I try to manually turn on the compressor by pressing the contactors with a screwdriver to activate it?

Yes you can start that way. But you can listen and feel compressor as well.

So if the compressor comes on when I press the contactor in with a screwdriver,what does that mean? Does it mean it's dirty... maybe cobb web or can it be the compressor itself... or maybe a capacitor?

Could be dirty could have a critter between the contacts or the coil in it could be bad.Do you have a meter and able to test the contactor coil? If you are going to check contacts for dirt etc, BE SURE to diconnect power to unit first
