Hallo Friends,

If I got a salary 3000$ per month how much (and what kind) of taxes I should pay or they will deduct from my salary?

Thanks you in advance.

Tycoon1024:

Much depends on your marital status, whether your spouse works, whether you itemize or not, and whether you have children.

A married individual with children whose spouse does not work and who is making mortgage payments (and therefore itemizes) normally pays less in taxes on the same salary than a single person who takes a standard tax deduction.

All this is considered when you fill in the NY state equivalent of the W-4, which is Form IT-2104, Employee's Withholding Allowance Certificate. Get a copy of this form on www.tax.state.ny.us/pit under the Individual Taxpayer Answer Center and follow the instructions. That way, a sufficient amount of taxes will be withheld from your pay to cover your state income tax liabilities.
