My air handler in the attic has iced up on the inside, but he blower is running. Naturally, little air is getting throughout the vents to the house.Temp is 84 degrees thermostat set at 73.

I was told to turn off the air handler to let it defrost... service cannot get out for a few days. Will this help?

If I leave the air handler running with the ice buildup , am I creating trouble? I need some air here in Florida, so will turning it off for a few hours melt the ice and give better air flow? I assume turn off the outside condenser as well?

I hope that this is just a maintenance issue and nothing greater... it hasn't been cleaned since "05.

Thank you.
