I have a 5 year old side by side Maytag and cannot get the frig to cool to 37. Best it will cool is 45. The freezer is at 0. I have defrosted the evaporator and there was frost but it was not to the point to restrict air flow. The evaporator fan seems to run okay with no noise but I tried spinning it and it will not spin like a squirrel cage motor fan. After defrosting no change. Freezer control is a 5 and frig at max or 9. I don't see any restrictions at the bottom or top of the frig. The small door at the bottom of the frig is flapping indicating cool air. Help!

I notice you are new here. Welcome.Clean coil and fan motor area at rear of unit thoroughly. The dust, lint etc will restrict air flow and the unit will run warm. Also check to make sure defrost cycle and heater are working. If you noticed frost build up, you may have caught a problem early. You can turn the defrost timer with a small screwdriver to see if going into cycle and if the defrost heater is working. A leaking door gasket will pull in warm air. The ref side will always warm up more quick than freezer side. I take it the unit is inside and not a garage unit. These are some things to start checking. Post back with results and if need further help, myself or someone else will help you. Many good folks here willing to help you.
