I am not with the father of my child and he is in the army. He is never around but calls to ask how she is. My daughter is 1 1/2. I have been with someone for over a year and he loves my daughter as if she was his own. I want her to call him by his name. If she wants to call him dad she can because she wants to and not because she's used to it. I want my ex to the same thing with his wife. Should I talk to him about it or not worry about it?

I wouldn't worry about it. Honestly, you have put this baby in a position to choose already so make it easy and let her do her own thinking on this one... If she calls both of them dad then so be it, if she doesn't then let it go.

If the person you are with is not your husband, do not encourage your daughter to call him dad.
"Dad" signifies a sense of lifetime permanence. If you guys have not made this type of commitment to each other, save your daughter the unnecessary emotional detour in her development.
On the other hand... if you are married, life-partners, etc... keep the option open but let your daughter decide. Babies are pretty perceptive...
