I went to my hair colorist and asked her to dye it to my natural hair color, brown. She dyed it way too dark and I hated it. 3 months later I couldn't stand the color anymore and I dyed my hair from a box, what I thought would be a little bit lighter. Nothing happened. So I bought an even lighter color and it turned orange. I bought an even lighter color than that... and it turned more orange. So then I bought a 4th box - bleach blonde. This all happened in 2 weeks. My hair is now yellow with orange stripes and feels like hay... not to mention my eyebrows are much darker so I look ridiculous in many ways. It is so horrible. I work in a professional setting and I can't continue to look like this, but I am still on a budget which is why I have done this all myself in the first place. Someone told me to buy a brown 8-week color from the pharmacy because it would take care of the color and not damage my hair anymore but I am so afraid to dye my hair a 5th time. Please help! I really don't know what to do and I look ridiculous! Its all that I can think about!

If you must dye it yourself, get brown. You will have to have it cut regularly to get rid of the damaged hair. It will take about a year to get your hair back to normal. I have had this happen to my hair in an effort to save money. Don't ever color at home. It will always be a disaster. If you want to save money, go to your local beauty school.
