4 differences between sodium chloride and sodium? That's as easy as listing the differences between, say, metal and salt! Oh wait, that's because that's exactly what it is.

Sodium is a very shiny, silver metal. If sodium is left in the air then it will lose its shine and turn into white powder, so that is why we leave it under oil. However sodium chloride is a colourless crystal which can be left under any condition.
