My craftsman is a little hard to start, but when it does I give it fuel it stops what could be wrong and is it something that I can fix.

When you start it will it accelerate with the choke partially closed? If so it sounds like you need to make an adjustment of about 1/2 turn counter clockwise on the low speed jet. I have repaired several brand new string trimmers with the same symptoms. They would barely idle and when you open the throttle they die.
