I've been taking ortho tri cyclen for 3 months now. I take it every morning when I wake up but I'm worried I might forget one so id like to start taking it at night. Will that cause a problem? Will it be less effective if I take it at night? Also I've had some nausea through out the day and was wondering if takeing it at night might help that. Thanks

My wife has been taking the pill at night going on 6 years no baby yet. I know a lot of meds cause nausea if taken on an empty stomach. You might also want to talk with your doctor about trying a different type of pill, some people handle different types of pills better.

No taking it at night won't decrease its effectiveness. But I suggest waiting until a new pack before switching. And you will need to use a backup form of protection if you are sexually active, for a month to be safe, as taking your pill at a different time could effect the effectiveness until your body adjusts to the new time. Then be sure that you remember the new time. Taking it at the same time consistently is imperative to the effectiveness... I have found, personally, that medication that bothers my stomach is easier to ignore when taken at night, however, I agree with the above poster, if it continues after switching, that maybe discussing alternate options would be best. Good luck!
