I have a Hunter remote-controlled fan in my bedroom. It was installed about two years ago. Power to the fan is controlled by a former light switch on the wall. When you turn the wall switch on, the fan's light comes on, and then you can control both fan and light with the remote. Or at least I used to be able to control it.

Lately, the fan works only intermittently. When I turn the wall switch on the light comes on as usual, but sometimes I can't get the fan working with the remote. Other times I can turn on the fan and it works fine. Often, however, the fan works for only a short time before it turns off on its own (the light always turns on at the same time this happens). Still other times, I can't get the fan to turn on at all. Other times, the remote will cause the motor to make a noise like the fan is starting, but the fan won't move.

I first thought it might be the remote, so I got the fan turning and then removed the batteries to see if it would malfunction. Sure enough, the fan turned off and the light came on even with no batteries in the remote.

What's going on here? Thanks.

I would guess maybe loose white wire from receiver to fan and light. Not the white before
Receiver.

First, try changing the frequency of the remote and receiver.

If that doesn't work, you may need to replace the receiver.
