I just moved into an apt on the 3rd floor. With the hot weather starting I am noticing that the air runs all the time. I can get it to regulate but notice that when I want the temp to be 70 I have to turn the thermostat all the way to 85 to get it to shut off. Noticed that there is a round metal dial when you take the face of the thermostat off. Was wondering if that needed to be changed or if there is something wrong with the thermostat not registering the correct inside temp. Tried to call Maint. But they seem useless. Thanks for any help you can provide

You have to run the tempature up to 85 degrees to get the system to shut off? It sounds like your thermostat is shot, your best bet is to replace it.

Yeah, just replace it. DO NOT buy a white rodgers digital tstat, because I have seen many that have temp readings that are way off, by 3 degrees.

Almost all other tstats are good, just buy one that suits your needs.
