Hi all,

I have read the adviice about the slow filling cistern but the problem I'm having is getting the push button lid off in the first place. It's a Vileroy and Bosh I'm trying to unscrew it but it is not untightening and is annoyingly going around in circles.:mad:

Is there a magic formula to these types of lids or am I missing something!!

Try this. Unscrew the chrome piece that is around the push button (turn it anti-clockwise), the button and it's housing will then come out and the cistern lid can be lifted.

Unfortunately the whole unit keeps going around and I cannot get it off!

Did you hold the button while you unscrewed the chrome piece or did the whole thing just turn around? Hold the chrome piece this time. Good luck, Tom

Great advice, the buttons just lift off and theere is a screw which attaches it to the flushing device.

Think I may have sussed it but please advise.

We used to have a tank in the loft which then supplied hot water. The boiler basically blew up and it was replaced by a commbi boiler. Problem is that this boiler is a direct feed from the mains and goes through the boiler to heat the water. Just checked the temperature of the water in the system and it was the heat of the taps. There seems to be no cold feed in to the downstairs loo. The filling rate of the system increases if you turn the tap on!!

I guess I'll have to fork out on an addition cold feed to the downstairs loo so that I get the cistern filled with cold water.

I'm clutching at straws I think so please advise of any other possible solutions. Rainwater use from an outside tank ?

There should be two systems, a hot and a cold. The cold system must have been combined with the hot system at the time the boiler was converted.
To correct this situation a tee must be cut into the cold water feed and the cold water system unhooked from the hot water and connected to the cold water tee. That should give you back both systems. Good luck, Tom
