In may states, at age 14, the child can live with whomever they want. Time to talk to the divorce lawyer and see what the law is.

No sorry in no states is the age 14. In every state there is an age at which a judge will consider the wishes of a minor child, and that does vary. Ultimately the judge will decide based on what he/she sees as is in the best interest of the child which can include but is certainly not limited to the wishes of the child. You (your husband really) will need a lawyer to present a good case for your intentions being in the best interest of your stepson.
