 I would like to build a basement bathroom. I have located the area about five feet from my sewer pipe. Is there a set of generic plans on how to build a basement toilet, sink and shower. I need to know about all the equipment that is needed and how to install it. What type of pumps, pipes, venting. Can I use standard type toilet, sink and shower or do I have to purchase special equipment. I have hot and cold water to an existing wet bar that will have to removed. I also have existing ceiling lighting. Do I have to upgrade the electric for the pumps. I am very handy and would like to do it myself because I'm on a fixed income and retired. Where do I get the plans with the necessary parts required so I can read the requirements and conquer the learning curve. I've been to stores like Home Depot and Lowe's and tried to purchase How To Books but none exist on building basement bathrooms. Is there someone out there that can help me?

Thanks, doityourselfdan

If your sewer is under your basement floor you are in luck. Speedball or Iamgrowler will be here tomorrow and can give you step by step. Iamgrowler had some nice pics of what you need to do. Start pricing renting a jack hammer because your trap will be well below the grade of your floor as well as the other drains. Your vent should tie into the existing vent in the home and this may be tricky with finished walls and everything. Start looking for a possible chase where you can reach your attic to tie in or other existing vents such as the current bath or kitchen sink.
