I am currently in US on H1-B visa and my wife has been on H-4 visa. I filed for my green card about a year ago and I will be applying for the final stage of the process (Adjustment of Status or I-485) next month.:D

Right now my wife has a ITIN number, but she will be getting her SSN once we file I-485. I know that I have to inform the IRS of my wife's SSN once she gets it, but how do I do it? Is there a form that I can fill out and mail with my next year's tax return, or do I just walk into one of the TACs with supporting documents?

Thanks

Go to the local IRS office with the new SSN; call first to make sure they are set up to address ITIN issues.

Failing that, just file with ner new SSN. The IRS will retire her ITIN once they see a new tax return with her new valid SSN.
