Hello,

I've recently bought a Canon Powershot A630 camera and I can't download the pics from the camera to my PC (windows XP / bought nearly 3 years ago).
I used to have an Olympus camera and it was working fine. Still working..

I followed the manuals guidelines to install the Canon softwares. I have unsinstalled and re-installed 3 times and it's not working...
The error message I get is either camera busy - already in use or camera not found.

I tried on one of my friend's laptop and it worked fine (her laptop also has windows xp and is about 3 years old too).

I really don't understand why it's not working on my PC.. I also tried without installing the Canon softwares and I had the same problem.

I am desperately trying to find a solution. Can anybody help me?

Thanks,

Steph

I also have a Canon camera. You have two ways of moving pictures from the camera to the computer: you can use the Canon software that automatically detects when your camera is connected to the computer (in picture view mode) or you can connect the camera using the same USB cable, turn it on and view it as another drive letter when using Windows Explorer.

Thanks for your reply.

I know what I mean. I tried both options.
When I choose to to download not using the Canon software, the error message that I get is camera busy - already in use.

There must be a problem with my PC but I really don't know what...

Hello,

I finally found out what was wrong.
My PC believes that there is always a hardware plugged in. I have unistalled the USB driver and now it is working.
