When trying to start my 89 honda civic, there is a clicking at kneecap level on the left side of the steering colume and the car is not starting, I called the dealership who stated they didn't know what was causing this, incidentally the car is a standard and can push push started. Can anyone help me with this?

It sounds like a Main Relay. It is positioned right in knee height, beside your left knee when you would sit on the drivers side. It does make a clicking sound, so you should just take it out and resolder it. Read the FAQ for Civic Starting problems in this forum for more information.
