I am going to a new hairdresser today because my friend who used to do my hair has moved out of state. What should I tip my new girl? Do I take a certain percentage of the bill?

My haircuts cost me $10, and I just tip $1 and give $11
There is no set rule in stone, it would also depend on what you can afford and how much the total bill is.
Also, what does your friend tip?

With my friend we just exchanged services. I would tutor her son for finals, and she would do my hair. I never worried about tipping her...

I misread your question.
How much will the total bill be? Tip maybe 10% or something like that, but then, only if you can afford it.
Finding out what others in the area tip might also be a good idea.
