Is it possible that a Home Pregnancy Test is wrong?

That depends, did it register positive or negative?

HPTs register false negatives all the time, mainly because they were taken too soon. Rarely will one show a false positive, and even if does show positive and then you later learn you aren't pregnant, it is most likely because you suffered an early miscarriage, that you probably didn't even know about.

Go to PeeOnAStick.com (http://www.peeonastick.com) for more information about HPTs than you could possibly imagine... lol

I agree with Alk, here. It depends on the answer you get. HPTs are notorious for false negatives, for a couple of reasons actually. 1 because it may have been taken too early and 2 because your particular hCG may not register (min never did until at least 12 weeks).

False negatives do occur but rarely. It is either because of an undiagnosed pregnancy and miscarriage or because the test itself was faulty.

I notice that you have been asking about whether you are pregnant a lot lately, please forgive me if I am wrong, but have you been to the doctor lately? It would be in your best interest.

I am posting your PM to me on here because I do not answer questions by PM, especially if it can be helpful to others...

Thanks for the info! The thing is that my period was due on the 27th of may and it didnt come it still hasnt come. but i have irregular periods. so i don't know if im pregnant or its just an irregular month. if that make sence. im not even having any early pregnancy symptoms.

It is probably too early for pregnancy symptoms. What were the results of the test?
I agree with J_9 as well, you should probably get to your doctor.

I am posting your PM here for the same reason Alk did. Your question(s) and/or answers may benefit others.

nope i haven't been to the Dr. yet my husband is military and i have to wait for the paper work to go in before i can see a Dr. The reason i ask so much is because i do have diabetes and my menstrual cycle is irregular especially if my blood sugar number are off. That's why i inquire about it all the time. If there is a web site that could help me out that you know of. It would have to be able to tell me what to exspect about being pregnant and diabetic. Please feel free to let me know.

Unfortunately, I have a website bookmarked at home, but due to a death in the family I am not at home, and may not be for a while. You may do well to Google "diabetes and pregnancy."

HPTs should ALWAYS be taken in the morning no matter what the directions say. Reason being is that if you are pregnant, by chance, then your hCG levels are higher in the morning urine than any other time of day because you have been sleeping and it has been collecitng in your urine to build up to high levels. If taken later in the day it is hit or miss as to whether you get an accurate response.

OK. But the problem is I go to the bathroom at least once or twice in the night will that effect the hCG levels?
