Im an 18 yr old college sophomore and I think I'm pregnant. My boyfriend of 3yrs and I decided to start having sex without protection. I was a little skeptical about the situation because I'm not at all ready to raise a child just yet, but I have been on birth control for a while now and I figured that it would be okay for us to not use a condom. Even though I am on the pill sometimes I don't take it on time or I might miss a day or two, sometimes even weeks. Before my boyfriend and I get intimate I always let him know if I haven't taken my birth control. I haven't taken my pill for about a week and we had unprotected sex. Could I be pregnant and how soon will I find out?

Yes it is possible that you could be pregnant. Your birth control isn't very effective if you don't take it regularly. You can take a HPT (home pregnancy test) the day of your missed period (if you miss your period) to find out if you are pregnant or not. Also look up the pregnancy signs and see if you are experimenting any. But you can't be sure until you miss a period.

First off, unprotective sex is dangerous. Especially if you're not ready to raise a child and you're not taking your birht control regularly. But the possibilties of you being pregnant are high. You should wait for about a week and take a home pregnancy test (be sure to pee in a cup to make sure you have enoug hurnie on the test)/

If you are not ready to have a child, you are not ready to stop using protection. You being on the pill doesn't count, because you don't take it on time, or even every day, or weeks at a time. The pill(ANY birth control) has limited(if any) effect if not used properly. You are both young, and have a lot ahead of you. Are you ready to be parents and completely change your lives? If you aren't, you need to change your actions to avoid that possibility as much as possible. You can take a test as early as 5 days before your period, however, I suggest you wait until your perood is a week late.

If you are not ready to be a parent then PLEASE use a form of protection regularly... I would suggest that if not too late you should get the morning after pill... I don't know if it's too late for that or not.
