We just bought a house 3 months ago and we are having a serious sewer issue. Our sewer keeps backing up I keep calling the plumber he comes out snakes the lines it goes down but it only last a week or 2 so here's my problem I had him out here on tues. he snaked it went down and low and behold wed. backed up again so he used a camera said nothing was wrong with lines it must be us.. Now today its backed up again we don't have small kids so I know nothings being put down the drains. The first time he was here he said it was blocked by a single paper towel 2nd a tampon(which I talked to my daughter about) and now t-paper. Could it be that when they snake it they don't clean the sewage that's stuck in the floor drains in the basement? I can't afford to keep calling him out please help. I can't afford to run all new lines right now with adjusting to a house payment after not having 1 for 10 years.

I am not a plumber but I have lived in 2 houses that we had the same problem as you. 1. was the hedges were close to the house and the roots had grown into the sewer lines... he would always get bits of roots when he came and cleaned it out. 2. it turned out to be the pipes at the street and msd was responsible for that.. we had several neighbors on our street that had the same prob. So finally we got our heads together and complained. You should try and talk to as many of your neighbors as you can and see if they have the same problem.

I have a hunch that you have roots out at the city raiser and your plumber didn't put out enough cable to get to them. Call him back and haqve him snake to the main in the street. I bet he'll bring back roots. RootX or Robics Foaming Root Killer that contain Dichlobrnic are two products you could try to kill the roots.
A less expensive way would be to call around to garden supply stores and ask for fine grain Copper Sulphate. Put a 1/2 pound in your toilet and flush it down. Repeat in 6 months. Good luck, Tom
