I have friend who in 2000 had a beautiful daughter, who now is 6 years old. During that time through details unknown, she was involved with a man who has assumed that he is the birth father, although she knows he is not.Currently the child now lives with her mother and would like to give up all her parental rights so her mother could get her proper benefits. My question is: What does she need to do give all rights to her mother?

Her mother will have to go to juvenile court and file papers to get custody. This is how my sisterinlaw got custody of her grandson. She did not even get a lawyer. But it did cost to file I think around 50 dollars but call your courthouse every state is different. We are in Ohio. Sounds like it will be easy because the mother will not fight it. My drug addicted niece fought it or tried, but the judge gave my in-law temparory custody and then later on full custody. Judge had an ad placed in the paper for 30 days to try and located a father.
