I am installing a new toilet in a basement. The flange has been cemented on and is too high for the toilet to sit flush on the floor. It is a 3" drain. What are my options.

How high off the floor does the flange set? Could the bowl be shimmied and made to work? Since you mentioned it's cemented I assume the material is PVC. If the flange sets too high off the floor line to shim then you will have to saw the pipe off at the floor line and glue on a new flange. Your options are limited. Shim or lower the flange. Good luck, Tom

The flange as it sits is almost 7/16 too high which makes it pretty high off the floor when shimmed. I had one person tell me to use cement board to shim I t so there would not be any rot. Do you have any other suggestions?
Thanks Pismo
