Hello - I am trying to save my marriage! My husband wants to drain our pool - most places will build you a pool but know very little about repairing an existing pool - My question is do we leave the drain open or do we close the drain while painting? What is the type of wrench we use and where do we pick up one? Any problems with the pool coming up out of the ground while we are doing the prep, cleaning and painting? Any other helpful information you can provide would be GREATLY appreciated - thanks!

WARNING- You MUST be sure that your main drain hydrostatic valve is functioning properly. When you drain your pool you must be sure that any water pressure building up under your pool has the ability to stabilize itself by leaking through the main drain hydrostatic valve and into your pool. If the water pressure continues to build and has no way to relieve itself by accessing the pool - you will end up with your pool lifting out of the ground and MAJOR damage to your pool.

I hope this information helps.
