I have a 12 week old chocolate lab he dry heaves every night but only at night. What could be causing it and what can I do for him?

At 12 weeks, you should be seeing a lot of the vet. If you won't be back right away, I would call and talk to them.

I interpreted your original post as it being an ongoing thing for a while. Puppies do ingest things and have viruses that cause temporary problems. You might wait a day or 2 and see how it goes. Beware of having a problem suddenly get worse over the weekend and paying an arm and a leg for emergency treatments.

Probably puppy acid reflux... or something along those lines.. try giving him a light snack before bed time to insure that he has something for his stomach to process in the night hours.. this will more than likely alleviate the situation... Also as labman pointed out, puppies like to ingest basically everything in their surroundings that will fit in there mouth, buttons, keys, coins, wood, carpet, baseboard, sticks, etc... insure that he is supervised and is not ingesting foreign objects during the dayli
