My husband and I have been trying to conceive for about a year and my cycles have always been long and irregular until recently they have been shorter as short as 16 days my doctor told me that I don't ovulate regularly but I do ovulate. This cycle I used an ovulation predictor and it said that my ov date was the 21st of may which was day 16 of this cycle as the first date of my lmp was may 5th I saw some very light spotting on the 27th of may, cycle day 22 and 6 days after my supposed ov date the spotting has subsided I am wondering if and when I should take a hpt and could the spotting have been implantation bleeding I have not had any classic symptoms of pregnancy yet other than an increase of appetite

You can take a test as soon as 5 days before your next period. But I suggest waiting a week past the due date, to be sure that it is missed... if it is after that time, youshould e able to test fairly accurately

Thanks! But it is soooo hard to wait I'm feeling extremely anxious and I'm wanting to know what's going on inside this body of mine. Every twinge and cramp I feel I get kind of excited but it could also just be af on her way. This would be my first pregnancy so I really don't know what to expect.
Quick question: The only symptom I've been feeling is an increase in appetite but it is so weird because I don't want to be hungry I just get a growling or burning sensation telling me I'm hungry even if I've just eaten, and now all I want to eat is ice cream because I feel hot. Is it supposed to feel like this so soon? I'm waiting to take a test so I can make sure its accurate.

I always tell most people that you don't normally start seeing symptoms until at least 6 weeks along, but I have heard of women experiencing them much sooner. I told another girl yesterday, that I tested a week before my period was due and found out I was pregnant and the reason I even tested so early was because of my extreme fatigue and headaches (symptoms I had with another pregnancy) that was at 3 weeks along, so it happens. But my hunger didn't really show up until 8 weeks. I know its hard... there is nothing wrong with testing early, but it could get expensive. I have been know to buy the dollar store tests in bulk... lol good luck!

Thanks I'm going to wait it out until next week. I'm just so excited at the possibility of being pg after a year of trying even if this isn't it I will keep trying I have a doctor's appt next month to discuss some fertility treatments. I'm hoping I will have to cancel that appt.

I'm beginning to think AF is playing tricks on me. I had some dark brown spotting last night after 3 days of seeing nothing and now this morning there's nothing even when I wipe. I wish I knew what was going on inside this body of mine. My husband is still convinced that I may be pregnant but I'm not so sure. Should I still take a test next week as I planned or should I consider this month a failure?

I would not consider it a failure until I had an absolute negative. Many women experience this same type thing with a pregnancy. I don't want to get your hopes up or anything, but there is still a chance.

I love that your so optimistic angel. So, I've been thinking and I'm not going to give up. I am going to take a test if I don't see af in a few days and if it is negative I am going to throw out my opk and just let nature take its course because I think that my stressing about pregnancy is hindering it from happening. I'd like to thank you for your advice and support. I'll keep you updated on my progress.

So this is just an update, I couldn't wait any longer and I took a hpt this morning and got a BFN. I am extremely disappointed but life goes on. I think af might be coming but I'm still not sure I'm still only seeing brown spotting. I guess I'll try again this month.

Sorry hun. Good luck for next month. Once you get that BFP you will look back on all this time of trying, and it will make that positive result just that much more of a triumph.

Just thought I'd throw out my two cents! I didn't have any spotting prior to my expected period, but I did have period like cramps. I did not get a positive on an hpt until I was 10 days late. Keep up the positive thinking and it will happen. Maybe not this month, but it will! You may still be pregnant, but the test may not show until later. I have heard of few women who get a positive before af is due, or even 3-5 days late. I was still getting a bfn at 7 days late, so if you don't get your "regular" period I would say to take a test a week after your expected af date. Good luck and continue to keep us updated!
