How do you solve fractions using unlike denominators with 3 different fractions; I have read my text and searched and searched but I am still unclear on how to solve these problems; for instance 1/9 + 5/12 + 4/5?

find a common denomnator, the most obvious one is 9*12*5 = 540, so you can convert them into the same denominator. You should be able to find a better common denominator too, but it requires a little brain power :)

In this case, 5, 12, and 9 are all factors of 180.

Now you do the rest...
