When I turned on my A/C for the first time yesterday it came on and after aboout 10 minutes the air flow stopped. I went outside to see if my unit was still running and it was, but no airflow. I cleaned the filter and hosed off the coils from the outside unit and still the same thing, no airflow after about 10 minutes. I put the thermostat on in just the fan mode and same thing happens, air flow for about 10 minutes then shuts down, the furnace did shut off as well. What seems to be the problem? Thanks.

Sounds like the relay for the fan is bad. Actually their may be more than one relay for different speeds for the furnace and A/C. Try following the wiring into the furnace from the G and Y terminals at the furnace. You should also be able to follow the leads from the blower motor back to the relay for the fan. Fan, blower? The thing that turns and make the air flow. Since the outside unit continues to run, the transformer must be working and connected to that relay.

Should I look into anything else should it not be the relay?

The motor could have an over load that is shutting it off after running a little while. If the motor stops, but still has power to it, it may be the overload. With the power off, try turning the blower by hand. A well lubricated motor will have some drag, but turn smoothly. If there is too much drag, and it is rough, you could have a bad bearing or even just need lubricated.

OK, after not getting any air-flow after turning on my A/C after 10 minutes, I disconnected the high speed terminal from the furnace and put the low speed terminal wire where the high speed wire was. I turned back on the power to the furnace and put the thermostat on A/C, its been an hour now and the blower is still running. Before it was shutting down after 10 minutes. What do you think is my problem, do I need a new motor or what? Thanks for any help, but my house has gotten down to 80 from 82 when I did the wire changeover.
