Hello all,
I'm working on a bathroom replacing a tub. I've removed the tub and old drain connections, but now I'm down to the old cast iron trap with a bell on the end. I need to connect new 1 1/2" pvc for the new drain. How do you join the new pvc to the old iron bell?
It looks like the trap pipe itself is 2", but the bell flares out to like 2 3/4". Is there a rubber gasket or something that can be inserted into the bell so the new pvc can be fitted in? I've never came across this before. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You will need a 2" Dual-Tite Gasket,(see image) to put in the hub of the cast iron trap. Click on ; Mission Rubber Products.html (http://www.missionrubber.com/Products/NoHubCouplings.php) to see. You will need to shave the ridges down to accept a 2" piece of PVC. You will also need some Dual-Tite Lubricant to coat the PVC and gasket with. The edges of the PVC will have to be beveled down so the pipe will slide in and If you wish to size down to 1 1/2" you will need 2" X 1 1/2" reducing coupling to do it. Good luck, Tom
